In a pioneering educational step considered the first of its kind among Faculties of Pharmacy in Egypt, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Mansoura National University organized the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for fourth-year students enrolled in the Clinical Pharmacy Practice course. The examination was conducted under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura National University, and the leadership of Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Sheikh, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, as part of the university’s ongoing commitment to advancing academic assessment systems and strengthening the integration between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice. The OSCE was implemented through a series of structured clinical stations designed to assess students’ real-life clinical performance. The examination was supervised by a distinguished team of faculty members, including Dr. Marwa Zaghloul, Dr. Mostafa Bahaa, Dr. Mohamed El-Gamal, Dr. Basant Maher, Dr. Samar Doweidar, and Dr. Heba Bahriz. Each station presented a simulated clinical case, allowing students to independently demonstrate their clinical reasoning, medical data analysis, pharmacotherapy review, and optimal therapeutic decision-making skills based on clear and objective assessment criteria. Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Sheikh emphasized that adopting this advanced assessment model provided students with a genuine opportunity to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, enhance their confidence in managing clinical cases, and better prepare for their professional role as effective clinical pharmacists within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. |
Organizing the OSCE examination in this format represents a significant qualitative milestone for the Faculty of Pharmacy at Mansoura National University, reflecting the university’s vision of adopting modern, competency-based educational and assessment approaches, and reaffirming its leadership in preparing highly qualified pharmacy graduates capable of meeting labor market demands in accordance with the highest academic and professional standards
