Faculty of Pharmacy Celebrates World Pharmacists Day and Highlights the Pharmacist’s Role in Advancing the Healthcare System
In line with Mansoura National University’s commitment to supporting applied learning and linking academic outcomes to the demands of the healthcare job market—and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of the University, and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Elsheikh, Director of the Pharm D – Clinical Pharmacy Program,
the Faculty of Pharmacy organized a distinguished celebration on the occasion of World Pharmacists Day.
The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Randa Hany, Coordinator of Community Engagement, Entrepreneurship, and Training; Dr. Basant Maher, Coordinator of the Students’ Scientific Association; Dr. Nermeen Kandil, Professional Development Coordinator; and Dr. Mohamed Ameer, Student Training Coordinator.
The celebration featured a series of specialized sessions covering various fields of pharmacy practice. It opened with a session titled “Precision, Safety, and Care: The Power of Clinical Pharmacy within the Hospital”, delivered by Dr. Rasha Gharib – Deputy Manager of Clinical Pharmacy at SMH/MU and MMS in charge of GAHAR Accreditation.
Dr. Gharib emphasized the pivotal role of the clinical pharmacist as an active partner in the healthcare system and in ensuring patient safety.
The next professional session, “How to Be a Professional Community Pharmacist”, was presented by Dr. Sara Abo Gomaa, Director of Medical Consulting, Training, and Development at Khalefa Pharmacies. She discussed the fundamentals of professional excellence in community pharmacy and the importance of building trust with patients and the public.
Dr. Khaled Shaher, General Coordinator and Supply Chain Manager at EdPharma, delivered a session entitled “The Industrial Pharmacist: Career Path and Required Skills”, focusing on career development in the pharmaceutical industry and the core skills essential for success.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Elsheikh stressed that organizing such events aims to highlight the wide spectrum of pharmacy careers and the growing opportunities available to graduates—provided they possess strong scientific knowledge and professional competencies.
The program also included an inspiring academic session titled “The Academic Path and Tips for Students”, presented by faculty members Dr. Basant El-Hammady, Dr. Amani Abou El-Naga, and Dr. Nada Anis, who shared their academic experiences and offered valuable guidance on research development and skill enhancement.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion session titled “Dialogue on Career Pathways”, moderated by fourth-year students Rowan Mohab and Mona Sweilem, featuring a rich conversation on the challenges of the profession and strategies for self-development in light of the evolving pharmaceutical landscape.
This celebration reaffirmed the University’s dedication to equipping its students with hands-on experience, practical training, and opportunities to connect with professionals across various pharmacy disciplines—ensuring the graduation of highly competent pharmacists ready to contribute effectively and professionally to healthcare development and community service.
